I am attempting to hatch California valley quail eggs and I am now in day 21 but they're not wobbling nor are there any peps :(
Has this happened to anyone else and still hatched? I'm so worried D:

I have yet to hatch quail, so I can't help there. I would suggest to take this as an opportunity to learn from - via the past 21 days as well as current settings.

Here's some questions you could answer to yourself to find the possible issue:

  • What's the current humidity/temp in the incubator?
  • Was there any power outages throughout the incubation? (If so, when & how long?)
  • Can you see any air cells, veins, etc?
  • How much of the egg interior is dark?
  • Did you set the eggs for at least 24 hours prior to incubating?
  • How many times/day were the eggs turned?
  • When did you go into 'lockdown'?
  • Are these shipped eggs or ones purchased locally? (Shipped eggs tend to have a lower hatch rate)

I hope these questions will help!

Along with knowing what your humidity and temp levels have been throughout the incubation period, including lock down, where you got the eggs, how they were stored before incubation, give it at least 5 days past the hatch dates.

California's hatch around 22 to 23 days.

Ok thanks TwoCrows

What exactly was your temp during incubation? Humidity during and at lock down? Where did you get these eggs and how did you store them before setting?

My incubator ranged between 101-99. Humidity has been between 75%-60%. They were shipped from Murray mcmurry. They were stored overnight at room temp in my back room.
I know a lot o the possibilities of ruining a batch of eggs but I'm just curious if anybody else has had this happen to them and still hatch. I just don't want to get my hopes up :/

The fact that you said you did see movement means you may still be on track. It is only day 21 yet. Are you using a still air or forced air incubator? 101 is way too high for forced air. And 99 is too low for both of these. Next time, try to keep the temp stable at 99.7. Give it a few more days yet. :)

Also, 75% humidity is too high during incubation. Should be closer to 55% to 60% during. About 70% at lock down.
