I have a hen who seems to have marbles in her airways as she breathes in and out. I think she's congested. Any suggestions on what I can do for her?

How old is she? Does she lay eggs? Can you feel of her crop in her upper right chest, and tell us if it is empty and flat, full, hard, or puffy soft? Has she been eating and drinking?

Yes, she lays eggs. I think she's about 2 and 1/2 years old. I think she's eating but I'm not sure. She's acting normally otherwise. Her crop is soft and squishy.

If the crop is soft and squishy first thing in the morning, and she has a sour or bad odor from her beak, she might have sour crop. When crop contents are not emptying, they may come back up into the throat and cause gurgling. Check it first thing tomorrow before she has any water or food to see if it has emptied. Here is some info on crop problems:

Also check for gasping, watery/bubbly eyes, nasal drainage, or sneezing, in case of respiratory infection.

No idea what happened, but she hasn't done that again all day! Strange!
