Do enough of them and you'll start seeing what to look for. The trick is figuring out if you want to subject yourself to the working conditions that force you to breathe in dander all day. It's not a bad job...just not something many find appealing.
I thought feather sexing only worked with a few particular breeds, like the commercial White Leghorns. Are breeders developing more different breeds that can also be feather sexed?
It must be that this woman confused the photos of teenagers working in the hatchery with those doing the vent sexing. My guess is that vent-sexing is a skill that's not very easy to obtain, but not impossible either. Not a job for your average teenager.
I bet those guys are a big hit at Career Days at their kids' schools.
