Run “table”

Building a table-like structure to go inside the run for the chickens to get under to feed safe and to get on top of just for some enrichment. How far apart would you space the “decking” boards so toenails dont get caught? Close enough they can walk around on it and legs don’t fall through, but far enough apart toes don’t get stuck.

I don't know how far apart to space slats. You might consider a solid floor, tilted enough to drain, with weep holes on the lower edge.

We have a 4’x4’ raised platform, plywood for the surface, with drilled drain holes.

We use a very large - 10 foot long dense tree limb that is wider than a balance beam that fell during a storm. It has the right curvature that creates an arch in the middle and it stands solid on it's own ends. You may have something like that sitting around in your woods or yard or neighbors yards. Watch for tree trimmers in the area and see if there isn't a branch you could take. I like free and minimal work.
