What can I use in my run that is safe for chickens and sustainable that I can plant seedlings under and will allow the plants to grow through?

Yep, I just built a grazing frame for my chickens! A grazing frame is basically a raised garden bed with a hardware cloth top. It allows the chickens to eat only the tops off of the plants so they continue to grow.
