Run Away Chicken Breed

Now that you know who the owner is, maybe let them know what's happening, since it seems she doesn't go home in the evenings. Their enclosure needs to be more secure. It really isn't your job to constantly catch her for them, even if you don't mind.
Yeah, that's a good idea. I don't know if they're letting them out to forage of if she's a frequent escapee. I can see their run through the little gap in the fences where our yards touch. They have a big chain link run with a tarp over the top, but I can't see anything else. At this point I don't mind if she wants to join the flock, she's a very interesting bird. When I looked up the breed, it was mentioned that they are very flighty and do not do well in confinement. She definitely has more space over here. I just don't want to see her attacked by a predator if she's roosting in the trees alone.

Now this one has decided she likes us enough to lay her eggs in the nest box, but not enough to try and roost in the coop. I don't think this is the same bird as the other, she has much larger comb and fuller body than the other one. I figure I'm feeding her, I'm keeping the eggs lol. First white eggs in the basket.

I cracked one open when we were checking our Silkie eggs for fertilization and it was fertilized. If my cockerel is the sire that's an interesting mix for sure.
This has been a wild year with chickens! Thankfully no losses, they just keep multiplying!

My fayoumis will only stay in our yard for about 15mins before hopping the poultry fence. We keep them (and the other chickens) enclosed in a secure run but will sometimes let them out 15 mins before sunset for some free range time, maybe 4-5 times a week. That way they don’t get too far before needing to go back to their coop. I’m trying to mix them with different breeds to control that impulse. I had a fayoumi roo that was the best I’ve had, they’re great birds but 2 ac just isn’t big enough for them apparently lol.

Clearly! They are excellent foragers that's for sure. I don't mind the visitors, clearly biosecurity goes out the window, but they seem healthy other than being really hungry.

Mine will prefer to eat feed off the ground rather than out of a bowl. If they had to travel to search for free range grub, they would choose that Over pellets so I don’t know if I would harp on the owner about not feeding it… I give mine a TON of enrichment and they will still hop the fence for their 5-10 mins of free range time. They just prefer to wander.

I’m trying to hatch as many chicks as possible from my girls because I know deep down they will wind up wandering off.
