Hello...seeking more advice...

I'm planning on the run build...16x8

I'm wondering;
-how far apart do you put the studs?
- if one is on a budget, do 2x4's in the run (not on the ground) need to be pressure treated.
- when putting hardware cloth up I was going to use a 100' roll...running it horizontal around the run as far as I can. it's 4' high...run is 7' high...essentially using 2 pieces...how do you connect the top and bottom inbetween studs?

I do 4'x6' LxW panels and screw them together. Right now my run is 16'x24'. I can't remember the price on that one, but my 12'x12' for my pheasants cost $250 the panels on that cage were only 4' high but the netting took it up to 8'.

what is lxw?
Length x Width, I believe. If I'm reading @The Phantom post correctly, the reference to the other run with the netting being only 4' high panels makes me think that 4'x6' being referenced are oriented in such a way that they are 6' being the height, and the 4' being the length. So if you screwed two of them together side by side, you'd have an 8' long piece at 6' high.

My run is a 10x20 pole carport ($99) without the cover, then wired top & sides with 2" chicken/poultry wire (relatively inexpensive & will last basically forever); we also have hot wire around to keep out all daily sky & land predators here in the forest. The run is very sturdy & my hubby said it was way easier to put together than all of the other runs we've had. We don't used the cover because of the heavy snow loads we can get overnight that just collapses the top wire of any kind & the 2" allows a lot of snow to fall thru (compared to the 1") before it loads up & I have to go out & hit it from inside to let it fall through. The chickens have a little open barn outside for sun/rain cover & another cover attached to the coop that they easily fly up to to get inside (it keeps all critters out of coop & out of their main feed). Have fun doing yours, best wishes.

Yup length by width. On my pheasant pen the panels are only 4’highx4’ long. The netting makes the total height of the pen 8’ with 4’ being the panels. In my big chicken run the panels are 6’ highx 4’long.

I'd go 4' on center between studs then run the HC vertically.
Could even extending out onto ground about 18" for an anti-dig apron.

THanks the feedback. If I went 4' on center (which I'm leaning toward) is there any negatvie to running horizontal in the HC? It would be so much cutting of the wire to go vertical

I put cross pieces or purlins to connect my HC. I did cut it and installed it up and down. Believe its stronger that way. 4 foot between 2x4 will begin to warp though. Wouldny go wider than 2 foot. 4x4 treated will take 4 foot and 2x4 purlins would be stouter.

The whole point of going 4' OC is to have solid attachment points for the HC edges.
I would rather cut more HC than stitch/tie together the seams from going horizontal.
You could always add nailers between studs too tho.

Will your run have a solid roof?
That could affect your stud spacing.
