Run fence needs color

We are almost done with our coop but I have one side that I would like to grow a vine on .... mostly for color and scent. The area our coop is on is on the side of our house and very "bland looking". Since we put the roof on the run ... it's going to be shaded almost all day - ruling out grape vines. I really want to grow jasmine since it's evergreen and smells so pretty when it blooms but some sites say it's poisonous... other sites say it's not. Any suggestions?
