Run litter?

What kind of pine.
The kind with long soft needles.....or short sharp ones?
How big are the boughs?
I'd be hesitant to add freshly cut pine due to the sap aspect.
It would be the short spiky ones but I can wait til they dry too. I just didnt want to compost them if I could use them

Spiky isn't good. Sharp things in the run could lead to bumblefoot.

I'm afraid that I'm so used to my longleaf and loblolly pines that I forgot about the stiff sort.

I'd not put them in the run.
I suppose you could use the branches once all the needles fall off and the sap dries up.

Thanks all! I just wanted to use what we have around the yard while being safe and clean :jumpy
If you really want to use the boughs I'd consider chipping them and letting them sit somewhere to age and soften up a bit (6-12 months?), and then they should be safer to use.
