run protection question

I used wire fencing to cover walls of the run, i am adding hardware cloth to the bottom half of walls. Should i also double up on the top half of walls? Suggestions on what to use for protection on the roof of the run also. Thanks in advance.

It would be more cost effective to do 2 layers of chicken wire over the top.

as long as the run itself is tall enough to prevent a predator like a racoon from reaching DOWN far enough to grab a chicken from above, you can use welded wire across the top. I've done that, but only when the run is tall enough.

smaller song birds can still get in though, which can carry mites and lice to your chickens and WILL help them eat any food that's outside.
