Run re do

Glad you rejected both the options in the 1st post....
snow load would have been a challenge there.

We live in northeastern Wisconsin
Here's how to add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Well, our current run is constructed with lumber and chicken wire, including on top. It is falling apart...but not the top! Though the hardware cloth would be more likely to gather snow I suppose.

Post some pics.

I most certainly would.
Even my 2x4 wire can catch enough snow to almost collapse it the first winter.

Oh, it's really not worth posting pictures of my run haha. It was built very quickly, it's a mess of wood, saggy chicken wire, staples, and a crooked door that has to be held shut with a brick 🤣. Right now, run is not even close to predator proof. It never really was. It could probably be salvaged/shored up, added onto, and add hardware cloth. I'm really indecisive obviously. But whatever I do, I will plan better than last time-so hopefully it enda up a little better! Your run is amazing....inspirational even, ha!

Your run is amazing
I still have to guard against snow load and shovel some clearance.
I wish I could have built a solid roof.

Yes. I would add moisture if it was needed.

So none of the framing is usable?
I should be able to re use some/most of the wood so I dont have to buy quite as much! The wood itself is ok. It is just unnecessarily tall (8 ft) and since I want to expand/secure it, I figure now is the opportunity to tear it down and start over and make it shorter, in hopes of saving a little bit on hardware cloth.

Don't make it too short. If you're using deep litter you'll need enough height for it to build up to a foot.

I made the half-high run mistake with my first flock and cleaning in there was a NIGHTMARE.
