Coop Completed, now beginning run.

Question:

Run will be 72 sq. ft. for 6 hens. I have enough old corrugated roofing panels to "roof" the run and that had been my plan.
Run will have a washed gravel/sand base.

Now, having second thoughts on "roofing" run as the run is already fairly shaded by three large Maple trees. However, the covering would sure be nice to keep run dry and free of snow in Winter (of which we get lots up here)

Thoughts? Pros and Cons?

Jeff

Yes, use that roofing material for sure. Like you, we have lots of hawks and lots of snow...shade is shade, whether it's coming from the maple trees or a roof!

Good to have a dry part of the run for rainy/snowy days.
Make sure it can handle the snow load or you have a way to keep the snow off it regularly...but you've probably already thought of that.

Go as big as you can for the run, unless they are free rangers.
