I am on ebay trying to buy a run. My brain is fried right now and math is not an option. Can someone give me an estimate in length x width (not sq ft per chicken) for a run size for the following:

4 Seramas
2 Silkies
1 Buff Orpington
1 Ameraucana

1 roo will have to sleep in the house

Also, the coop itself.

Thank you for any help.

Minimum 10x4, 7x6, 8x5 some combination like that for the coop, but go bigger because you will end up with more chickens and need more space. Also, chickens with more space are happier chickens. For the Run 10x10, 8x13, 6x17, but again, go bigger. You'll need it eventually. I'm constantly adding space and wish I had just started off with a much larger coop. Have always had a very large run, approx. 70x60 for 12 chickens. I have 3 coops because my first one was large enough for my first 6 chickens, but not when it grew to 9 and then to 12. Next year we will build a new coop and we are going with 6x10. Hope it helps. I only have 9 chickens now but I know I will have more then.

Thank you all, very helpful. I don't plan on getting more chicks (famous last words?) because I am .03 acres short of being allowed to have them at all (I have an acre and 1.03 is required...dang!)

Famous last words to be sure. Ever heard of chicken math? :lau:lau:lau:gig:gig

That is the most arbitrary sounding requirement! I could understand needing over an acre to have X number of chickens, but to need 1.03 to add more... what is .03 acre anyhow!?

I didn’t research correctly. I thought I only needed 1 acre to have any chickens at all. Then I found out it was 1.03 acres to have any at all. An acre is 43,560 sq feet. I’m 1,315.8 feet short.

Edited to correct numbers

Sounds like your city ordinance did their children math (.03) lol just kidding. What happens if they look into your lot size? You prepared to maybe have rehome your babies?
