Scar made his way back to pinepack densite. Piper had just returned, head down and trying to stay in the shadows.
"So...show me what you caught Piper." Scar smiled at her.
Piper grimaced as she dropped a squirrel and another rabbit at his feet. "I'm not good at tracking things..." she mumbled. Scar brushed his pelt against hers bracingly. "Hey...you'll learn! Ill start teaching you tomorrow."
They took the prey out to the fresh kill pile and chose their dinner, eating under Pipers tree.
Scar looked at Piper as if what he was about to tell her pained him. "Pipes...I saw Garron in he woods today."
Piper's eyes grew wide, her meal forgotten.
"He isn't very happy." Scar chose his words very carefully...it wasn't about what he said...it was about what was implied.
"Look Piper, ill be honest. I don't think his company is one you should keep. I know he has been kind to you in the past," he continued quickly before she could speak. "But he just can't see past his anger for me. If I wasn't so big I'm sure he would have attacked me today. But that's not what scares me...if he really cared about you than he would give me a chance, right? He would for you...but. He isnt. He wants to see you again tonight. He wants to say goodbye. He told me to tell you to meet in the territory." Scar rose sadly, but triumph surged through his veins as he saw grief mixed with uncertainty on his sister's face.
"I hope what he said isn't true. Perhaps he may still be your friend after all but..." He bent his head down and touched noses with his sister. "I'm going on a hunt with the alphas, okay? I'll be here if you need me."
Piper watched him go her emotions swirling like crazy. Garron had seemed so distant and sullen this morning...when she had spoken about her brother he had left her. A tear trickled down her face as she watched Scar go. Scared and sad to meet Garron for the last time.
When evening approached, she got up and set out for the place she and Girvan had met the night before. She lay down in the soft leaves to wait for him.
