Quote:
Garron watched with wide blue-gray eyes as Scar tumbled down into the river below. It was hard to believe, and to be honest, Garron was in a bit of a state of denial. Scar... the very wolf that had nearly destroyed his, as well as Piper's life... was dead. His limbs quivered like leaves in the wind as the adrenaline wore off.
Piper?
Garron whirled around on a dime to face her. "Piper." He raced over to her as his heart began to race... was she dead? No, she isn't. Relief coursed through Garron's body when he noticed the faint rise and fall of her chest. He lifted her up off the ground by her scruff and began to take her away, back to his den in the loner lands.
Silence
And pain
LOTS of pain
Piper slowly opened her eyes and tried to move but her body refused to respond. Her side and neck were on fire, her ear's ringing as her vision blurred and darkness surrounded her. What had happened? Where was she...
Her nose picked up a familiar tantalizing scent. One she never thought she would come across again...
Garron?
I must be dead...
She sighed, with satisfaction and relief or fear, but the deep breath hurt. either way A small whimper escaped her.
Then she remembered....
Scar...had she also killed her brother as well as Garron? Had he killed her? Once again she tried to rise and failed, barely getting her head a fraction of an inch off the ground before it fell back limply. She closed her eyes again...
Garron took Piper to his den and set her down inside his nest. He rasped his tongue over her wounds, and prodded her gently with a paw. "Piper, it's me," he murmured. "If you can hear me... Wake up...."
"Piper, it's me, If you can hear me... Wake up...."
The words echoed in Piper's mind. Her heart lept at his voice but...she was afraid to open her eyes. What if she was just dreaming?
She opened her eyes, everything blurry for a moment...and then she saw him. The blood matted on his forehead, his whole body shaking from exertion. But it was him...
Tears formed in her eyes, "Garron..." she croaked, not daring to believe that he was real.
