Kara shook her head, "I don't know." Her eyes were sad, hearing the pups story. "I'm sorry you had to deal with that, humans are no good," she growled.
Safina laid beside her mother, tears brimming at her eyes, after hearing Mahala's story. She got up and walked away.

Blizzard stared into the river, suddenly spotting a large trout stuck in a pool. Without warning he jumped into the water, head first, splashing water everywhere! He surfaced, sopping wet, his long shaggy fur hanging in his eyes, and large fish slapping back and forth.

"well, I feed off of old carcases and caught small animals like rabbits and chipmunks, squirrels small ones." said Mahala.
 
"were you ever alone? And is Safina your only pup?"asked Mahala.

Scarlet yelped, completely taken by surprise, and stumbled backwards. When she looked back, she doubled over in laughter. "Nice catch." She smiled.

Blizzard jumped out of the river, smiling. He placed the fish in front of Scarlet, "Here." He grinned, then took a step back and shook the water from his coat.
