I had my 4 week old chicks in a play pen, yesterday, there was a storm picking up, I gathered them up to put them in a safe sleeping pen. One ran off. I looked every were for it. Nothing. I went in the house for about 10 min. I knew it would head towards the sounds of the other chicks in the pen. I headed back out, (it was getting dark,) and I saw the chick wandering in the yard by the fence edge and strong bushes. When I got close it went through the fence and tangled in the bushes. I did go out to the other side of the fence, and caught the little chick.
I am just mentioning this, because is a chick hides from you, if you give them peace for a few minutes, look again by where the other chicks pen is the chick will turn up. I know if I totally gave up, I would not have a chick this AM.
