and Chickens I see chickens too.

Just like kids no table manners what so ever.

I love the one standing in the bowl so funny. Makes me feel so much better knowing mine aren't the only slobs when it comes to eating.

Hi there duck friends! I am looking for a couple of Runner Ducks to give as a Christmas gift to my sister. I am in Mooresville NC which is north of Charlotte. Is there anyone out there that would know where I may be able to find some of those cuties?

I wish I could help but don't think I'll have any extras till spring and that will only be if we get requests. I have Blue black and silver. Lots of eggs though if you want to get her an incubator and let her hatch her own.

Hi chicknnugget, I don't know your level of expertise or your sister's, so if I'm stating the obvious, please excuse me, I mean no insult. But unless you/your sister have the heart to cull drakes when they get older, you want to be able to sex your ducklings. At least for me, that means ordering from a hatchery. Typically if you have more than 1 drake to every 4-6 ducks (and if you get a very aggressive drake like I have, you need an even bigger ratio: I have 2 drakes and 13 ducks and still haves some issues - enough that I need to provide a jail facility for one of the drakes through the entire summer.) you will have fighting and over breeding that my stress or even kill members of your flock. 1 or 2 random ducks is fine, but 3 could turn out to be 2 drakes and 1 duck and that duck would be miserable, being over bread because the two boys were in competition with each other or your sister would have to cull one of the drakes (it is very hard to find a good home for a drake for just this reason.) I just wanted to point that out so that your sister has the best chance of enjoying the wonderful world of ducks without being traumatized by the hormonal nature of drakes.

As I said, if this is all known to you please don't be offended, but every year I see 100 ducklings at our local feed store, and every summer I see 25 new domestic ducks in the park (and they don't usually make it through the winter

) most of them are drakes. So I feel compelled to speak on the front end of such an endeavor. That being said, I love my ducks and runners definitely hold a special place in my heart.

I live in Greenville, SC and probably have a pair available. (I guess your drive would be about 2 1/2 hours). I have the female and need to check with a friend who has borrowed the male at this time, but I believe he is available. This is a cute pair of runner ducks born this summer. She is beige in color (still feathering out in the picture, she is all smooth now!) and he is beige with a black head. They are well bred of Holderread stock parents. Mom on the right, dad on the left! She has not yet started laying but will do so soon. They are both tame and used to being carried and handled.

Just checking: Does your sister have a night shelter and a protected run? We recently lost a duck to hawks and have learned to cover our runs with netting. They also need to be in at night due to a wide variety of predators.

The ones who might be available are the one in the middle front and the brother of the one in the middle back (looks identical).
