*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Yep I get the same response, but I do have 1 Runner and 1 Buff[who was hatched with the Runners] that will now eat out of my hand [very fast] lol So I am making progress even if very slow.

Hello! A couple months ago I was telling a coworker about my chickens, and he stated that I should also have ducks. I did some research on this site, and discovered he was right. I SHOULD have ducks!

My Indian Runner ducklings are now 4 weeks old and still thriving! I learned how to take care of them and troubleshoot issues (even non-issues like thinking they all had uneven-breast disease rather than full crops). So thanks everyone! Here are some pictures of the meeps. I can't wait until they're big enough to help with our slug problem in the garden! View attachment 1035640 View attachment 1035642

I'm so impressed with my ducklings!

I put them to work in my terribly messy garden for the first time today. My husband and I carried them all to the garden (totally fenced in, btw) and turned them loose. They had a fun time digging around for bugs and destroying weeds and grass.

After it started getting too hot in full sun, I decided they needed to move back to their shady run. But, we didn't want to carry them back. So.... we herded them out: around the front side of the garden pen, around the front of the house, past the kids' swing set, around the tool shed, past the chicken coop, and finally they broke into a dead run when they saw the open door to their "home" and jumped straight into the baby pool.

They herded and moved so beautifully! Almost like they were bred to do just that.
