*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

She so funny, I have to try and sneak up on her and take a picture. She has claimed all the eggs in her coop, including the turkey eggs. There's more eggs than there is of her. I'm planting around that coop today and she is watching me like a hawk.

Hello all,
Been really busy, my girls (13 of em) are producing between 6 to 10 eggs a day now.
Though one hid herself outside last night, I think she might have made a nest somewhere in the garden. Finally got a pic of on of my peacocks displaying, it's not breeding season and he's not quite 3 yet, but he's giving it all he's got.

I have a new addition. It's a wonder he/she is alive. Really struggled with hatching. I had to peel him/her out of the shell and there was still un-absorbed yolk stuck to the backside. Once it appeared that there was no active vasculature left in the yolk I cut it off.
After a nights rest he/she seemed fine, now eating and drinking like a champ.

My four runner girls are 21 (almost 22) weeks old and no eggs in sight! I try to tell myself that they probably won't lay until December/January at this point, but I still end up looking for eggs every day... I cheated and bought POL hens so this is my first time waiting more than a couple weeks for eggs and it's excruciating.

Ohhhh so sweet! They're so fluffy!

And apparently all I had to do to get an egg was complain on the internet, because my first ever duck egg was nestled in the straw in their house this morning!! I'm so excited!! I hope there's another one tomorrow so hubby and I can each have one for breakfast Saturday morning....because I'm not sharing! :plbb
