*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

:barnie:hitHELP! Paranoid duck mom here lol. I have a 6 month old Indian runner duck. She has always been very talkative and on Jan. 3rd she laid her first egg. Then she got even louder we'd hear her sweet little quacks all day long. I noticed yesterday she was being very quiet, all day. Today again she is still very quiet just an occasionally chatter but nowhere near her usual level. I know when they first lay eggs their hormones are in a twitter and they are louder. So I dont know if she finally just settled down and I got so used to the noise that it seems quiet now. I did recently switch their food (1/16) to Mezuri water fowl feed. They don't like it at all so Im going to go get their usual feed today. She does seem normal other wise interested in treats and curious as usual. If you have any ideas ,or its just me being a nervous mom, lol Id love to hear. Thank you
Has she continued to lay since her first egg? I don’t know if ducks become egg bound, but I imagine it’s possible so have you checked for that?

I have a very active hen that swarms the alpha male and she is loud! Since adding another eight hens that are now 14 weeks, the noise never stops, but on rare occasions. When all the quacking does stop, I get nervous!

Runners on the driveway.
They sure like the crushed limestone for grit. The limestone that gets crushed for fill is higher in pyrite than the stuff that they use to make cement. So, iron and sulphur.

Queenie, upper left
Pocahontas, center
The blue in the upper could be Spot, Daphne, Wonder Woman or ?
The last two fawns in the foreground are part of the new eight.
Queenie was added early July to the original order of June 15th, along with her sister Tumbleweed and the drake Count Chocula.

Queenie was definitely a 'lead' and was large.
Not sure how we got Pocahontas, but she had a severe limp at four weeks, so she was sidelined for a couple days, and needed a name for reference. She is the tallest of the new eight. Spot has a spot on her right foot, and now a corresponding white spot on her thigh.
Daphne is just a play on Daffy Duck, and she's a loud duck!
