I have 2 black runners. 8 wks today. I am noticing a green sheen to their feathers. 1 has a bill that is a tad lighter and the other one is starting to lighten. .. I was hoping for a drake and a duck. I am not sure if they quack or not as they are with 2 very loud KC LOL ... Will the bill colors be different for male/female ? or is it just by quake and tail curl to sex them?

my Drake is much bigger than my duck. Also my Drake does not quack at all he sounds like he's whispering something. Also I have noticed that my female duck is much more colorful at this time then my Drake. And they are also 8 weeks. I don't have any curly tail feathers but I'm pretty sure that the big one is a male. Also he is a lot more outgoing than my timid female and I'm not sure about the the color of they bill, but his has a little yellowing, and hers is all black.

Hi I am new to this community and have 2 8 week old Runners. I would love to be a member of this group, if you would have me.

Welcome. This is a great place to learn, bounce ideas off others and show off your little friends. I also have two 8 wk old Runners in addition to twelve 2 yo Runners, 7 ducklings and 16 more on the way, and I find all kinds of help on several duck threads. Do you have any pics?

This is Jace and JJ. They are suppose to be drakes, but I am not sure if they are or even how to tell lol...I was just to babysit these 2 when they were about 1 week old and I have had them ever since.

JJ Jace

This is them at 7 weeks

We have two 3 month old Runners. My sister suggested naming Tinkerbell and Tiger Lily because my daughter is a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) Tinkerbell fan. We have had them since they were one week old and were told they were both females...well, I think they are both boys. Help anyone? I tried to get a good pic but I am pretty sure those are drake curls on their back ends.

Anyway they are both active and love following me around in the yard and chasing the wild birds out of the yard (they are very offending)...silly duckies!
