duckyfromoz,

Good to see a post from you this morning! I am always amazed at your creativity (and ability to get a duckling to hold still long enough for a photo like this)!

mycutekitties,

You might also try the Buy Sell Trade forum, in case you have not posted there yet. I don't know that it would be a better place, just a way to get the word out more that you are looking.

Amiga, Glad to see you on hear again as well. Taking a look at the photo again- I realised I never even had to try popping some food in the egg to keep them inside. The biggest problem with the chocolate egg was that it was cold inside. Warming it up would have been out of the question- but chocolate covered ducklings may be quite cute. It has given me an idea though what to do with the chocolate from the props. I might melt it down and see if I can fashion some chocolate duck footprints!

Ducklings are easiest to work with in the first 2-3 days. After that they just dont want to sit still for two seconds.

As far as my runners in general- I currently have no babies in the house, and am able to get a full nights sleep again which is rather an odd feeling. ( their are eggs in the incubator though of course- and I am so looking forward to when the next lot of eggs hatch. My first show of the season is coming up this weekend and I have entered 5 young girls and a young drake. I will have to take some photos of them all to share as I really am very proud of how wonderful they are looking.

WestKnollAmy, good luck with your eggs, when are they due?

Good question.

I have so many eggs in the incubator that I just have dates for eggs and am trying to keep up with Runner eggs, Muscovy eggs and chicken eggs. They all have different dates of hatch even if set on the same day. I keep a chart and everything is color coded but I never know what is due to hatch until I pull the tray out for that day to move over into the hatcher bator. I hope it is soon because I have someone wanting Runner ducklings next week.
It makes for a fun experience when I have about 300 set all the time and don't candle until day 18 on sets of 30 eggs.

I do have Runner eggs up for sale in the BST section from 2 separate breeding pens. Those girls are laying beautifully right now.

300 eggs set??

Wow you will have your hands full. My incubator will only hold 70- but I have never had it to capacity. I woud love to do that one day and have a huge brooder I can sit in and have ducklings all over the place- but until I have more room to keep them as adults- I just stick to smaller hatches.

Well, thankfully, they hatch at different times. I keep the bator full now through summer. I hatched a bit all winter but usually only a dz or so a week so I would not have more than 4 brooders going at once. With the weather warming up I can use my coop brooder and they won't get too chilled at night so I can expand!
I have a Muscovy that wants babies so I popped 8 Runner eggs under her yesterday. She's a good mom and raised some Runners for me last year.

So I guess your house will be full of babies this Easter??

I messed up this year and didnt set eggs for an easter hatch so this is the first year I havent had babies in the house at Easter for about 8 years. It sure seems quite- so I have been working on some documents for a Facebook group on pen training Runners and preparing them for a show. Only a week to go though until my next hatch- which reminds me...time I start collecting a few eggs for the next lot

Hey guys! It's been awhile but I finally got some more Indian Runner duck eggs! They are due to hatch on July 31st and I am so excited. This is only my second time hatching EVER :D There are 2 Runner eggs that look viable and 2 Muscovy duck eggs that look viable.
Happy hatching everyone :D

Congrats! Hatching Runners is so fun. They stand up so straight and tall when first put in a brooder.

I have set quite a few this year but not as many as I could have since I have the ad running in the auction area. Actually, mine is a BIN and I have had a wonderful response to it so maybe we can cover the world with Runner ducks. I sure do love my silly bowling pins!
