I’ve had ducks for a long time but have never had runner ducks. I’m looking at ordering some from metzer, they have black, blue, chocolate, silver & fawn and white.

My first question is do any of those mentioned runner males have green heads? I’m having a hard time finding this answer.

Second question are runner ducks as good of layers as I’ve heard?

The list you gave are the colors of the runners they sell. I don't think any of those would have a green head, but there are colors that would. Sorry I don't know the name of the colors that would.

I have a male black runner and he has a green almost iridescent head and body that shines when the sun hits him. But otherwise he looks black. I’m not sure about female runners laying eggs but from what I’ve read they are good layers. I have a silver, black and blue runner all male. They are very handsome!

Do you have any photos of these handsome boys??

Black and Chocolate coloured Indian Runner drakes do have a green head, yes...

For Blue drakes, it is a big "NO" : they do NOT have a green head.

"Silver"... I am going to assume it is the Splash colour here...?
If so, then NO : Splash drakes don't have a green head either.

For Fawn and White...
...if it is the European Fawn and White colour - meaning : Kaki Pied -, then the cap on the head is green.
But if it is the American Fawn and White colour, then the cap on the head is NOT green...!

Second question are runner ducks as good of layers as I’ve heard?

I don't know from the ones from Metzer (are they good strains?), but mines are amazing layers - I am really happy with them...!

Thank you, that was very helpful.

So for the fawn and white I saw some pictures where some have dark spots on their head. Is that the cap you’re talking about?

What I mean by "cap" is the entire mask on their face - sorry for the confusion.

Search for "canard coureur indien panaché" on Google Image :

You should then see pictures of (ordinary European version of) Fawn and White Indian Runner ducks...
...and the drakes are the ones that have a black mask on their face (a hen' mask is brown).
(The mask appears black on the pictures, but IRL, it is honestly more green than black...?)

I don't have any recent one, but still...
