Hello I have 3 ducklings that hatched all a day apart 1 is a runt I gusse and is considerably smaller but the two big ones are breathing pretty heavy and have thier mouths open but I had heat lamp going and seen could be over heated so I turned off the heat lamp. Just looking to see if it’s the actual problem here! Thank you

Well 10mins have gone by without heat lamp and they seem to be better, mouths are and breathing ain’t as labored but will the little one be ok?

10 minutes isn’t long enough for them to cool down. After years of raising ducks I can say that your ducklings were definitely too hot. Totes are often too small for a heat lamp use especially if you are brooding indoors. They do not need to be hot 24:7. They only need a spot to warm up and the rest of the brooder should be cool. A duckling being able to cool down is just as important as being able to warm up.

Yes they were to hot. We need more details to know if they don't need a heat source or if you need the lamp farther away.
How old are the ducklings. What is the temperature around the brooder? What type of brooder is it?
I just got em in a tote with a heat lamp, or did I shut it off. probably 72 in the room with us. They are two weeks old. And I just meant they looked better when I took the lamp off of them. Thank you for swift replies. This is only 2nd year with little ones
