Runner Ducks

Mine are a bit skiddish, but they do come up to me and follow me. They like for me to go outside and hang out, they like to be close, but do not like me to pick them up. They also like to follow one of our dogs around, makes my dog a bit nervous! Are you new to chickens also? So sorry to hear about your bantams. We lost one chicken to our neighbor's dog, hubby was taking the dogs for a walk so they were not there to chase away the dog. Then we lost one to a coyote during the day, looked out just in time to see it running with our chicken, our dogs were out front and missed it. We sent our fasted dog out to chase the coyote once we saw it and he did chase him down, coyote dropped the chicken and she was dead :(
Yeah, I am surprised how much I love my ducks! I knew I would like them but I am a bit obsessed with them! They are friendly in their own way, they like to "talk" to me and start talking as soon as they hear my voice and come running towards me. They just aren't cuddly like they were when they were little. They used to love sitting in my lap.

My yard is fenced and we don't have neighborhood dogs, but we do have hawks. I lost all of my bantams to the **** things. My chickens are fully feathered, but I feel like they aren't big enough to be out all day when I am gone. Love those ducks though! They are still pretty skiddish around us, hopefully they will warm up over time? Read they are nervous, not friendly. How would you describe yours?
Ours are not nervous, very friendly, and energetic. Yup, they are like the cheer squad. They'll jump if a sudden really really loud noise goes off, like a shotgun close by, but otherwise they will simply stop and watch for a bit, then relax and get back to foraging.

So, in a word - energetic. And to add to that, friendly and enthusiastic.
