I have 2 female runners that started laying in april, each an egg a day. They started sitting on eggs in late april and i let them sit for 4 weeks, unfortunatly the eggs were not developed, so we removed them after checking them. It has been a few days now, but the ducks have not layed any new eggs??? I am wondering why this is? We are new to this, got these as babies last july. I do have 2 males as well and they are seeming to be mating, I have checked all around their area to see if they are just laying anywhere else beside their house but no sign, no shells nothing. Can someone tell me if this is normal?? How long before they start to lay again? Thank you

The pattern I have seen is: lay eggs, sit, molt, rest, lay.

The seasons seem to last from a few days to a few months. The runners took five or six months off laying (related to new flock member stress, I think). Before, it was no more than two months. Molting can take weeks. Just keep'em healthy. Sometimes they find really good hiding places for eggs, too.
