runners

Louder than I expected. Ling ling is LOUD, or rather can be loud. She's my uber co-dependent duck. If she is alone... whoo the quacking.

Shadow my female black runner is VERY loud. When I call her name she gets even louder lol. She lays nice big eggs and has been broody, so I know she will hatch some babies and be a good mommy

My runner is actually pretty quiet...but she is just weird in general, so don't use her as an indicator of anything

are they louder than a rooster crowing and how often do they lay i just ordered 10 of them

My drake is barely audible. My female can be a little loud but she doesn't quack a lot and she's not as loud as the mallards and rouen.

As for eggs, mine haven't hit laying age yet so I'm curious about that answer too!

I guess you're about to find out!

They are not louder than a rooster crowing. And truly, people really don't mind ducks like they do roosters. I think it's silly for folks in a city--with all the road noise, plane noise, people noise, music blaring, lawnmowers roaring, dogs barking, etc.--to complain about roosters either, but for some reason, folks just seem to *like* ducks. Most folks find the sound soothing--after all, a duck is something you go to a nice, quiet park to view.

So you'll probably be fine.
