Running out of food quickly

16 cups doesn't tell me the weight of the feed. Just saying people think chickens don't eat much, but they can. Weight is a better measure than volume. I don't disagree with you all, just trying to have the other person look closer at how much they are feeding. My bad.

A gallon.16 cups IS A GALLON.

Cindy, argue pounds or volume, the point being made here is that 7 birds can not possibly eat 16 cups of feed measured by volume in 5 hours. It matters not a bit how much those 16 cups weigh. Go ahead and weigh those 16 cups. They still won't be able to consume that much whether you give a pound/ounce figure or a volume figure.

I'm betting you've got a bunch of fat squirrels and chipmunks. They don't eat all that food they stuff their cheeks hide what they stuffed and come back for more. Only put out what your chickens will eat for a few days let the critters think the buffet is closed then put your feeder back out.

I have six chickens. NO WAY do they eat 16 cups of feed per day.
Totally controlled. They do not free range and there is no evidence of anything else eating their food.
ITA with the folks here who are saying that something else is eating that feed.
