Running with other fowl and freeranfing question.

Hello,
I'm considering getting turkeys and I have a few questions. If i get some poults can they be raised and kept with chickens, ducks, geese, and other fowl? Are they ok to free range? We have a decent size wild population near us. Will that have an impact on free ranging?

My experiences are different than some other people. My turkeys harass other poultry species and enjoy chasing my chickens. My chickens can get away by going under a fence. All my birds free range in the same general area. I do only allow the turkeys out for part of the day so the chickens don't have to hide all day.

I would be concerned that my birds would follow the wild turkeys. A few time some young toms have come up to my fence, and a few times the wild toms were trying to fight my toms through the fence. So I am thankful my turkeys are penned up most of the time for everyone's sanity.

As usual I agree with hen.

My turkeys free range with my chickens and they will definitely gang up on a single chicken and go after it pretty hard. They all free range together and do ok just be prepared for gang fights every now and again. They dont hurt the chickens they just chase them for the most part.
