He shook his head. "The next step is to recruit a lot of apprentices and get as many loyal followers as we can. Dark Forest warriors in ShadowClan are already working on that."

“Are- Are they going to invade again?” Dread and fear churned her belly. There was something else she didn’t fully understand, too. A fierce feeling of protectiveness.

He hung his head. "I wasn't the one to come up with this. I planned on making Darksky my deputy, so I told her, then she came up with this plan to gain more followers without you reading their emotions to figure whose guilty and whose not. Once we got a lot of loyal followers, we were going to attack one or two Clans and get some territory of our own."

“So it’s kind of like a Clan you have going on?” she asked curiously. “Well... I hate to break it to you, but I don’t think Darksky is the type to accept secondhand authority. She reminds me of how I heard Mapleshade was. I don’t trust her. I think she would have used you to gain power and then gotten rid of you.”

"That's the thing though... Darksky knows I am stronger and more cunning than her. She wouldn't try anything like that."

“How do you know? Blackblood, listen, she’s hiding something from you. I know it! And remember what I said about Mapleshade? Did she by any chance know Darksky before she faded?”
