*Running with the Flood* A Warrior Cat RP~Open~

Nightbird absentmindedly licked her flank. It hurt, but she guessed that it was just bruised. Her tail, however... she grimaced to even look at it. Red, oozing gashes striped a third of her long, magnificent tail. The fur had practically been ripped off too.

Owlherb finished dressing Moosepelts wound and left Floodlight to look after him. She went up to Nightbird and sniffed her tail, a neutral expression on her face. She chewed up a few herbs, making a poultice so her tail would go numb and it would be protected from infection. She carefully applied it then dressed her tail in cobwebs. "It will heal. It won't be the same, but it will heal." She assured Nightbird before handing her a few poppy seeds and moving on to the next cat

Nightbird nodded. She moved away quickly so she wouldn’t be in their way. She walked over to the prey pile. In an attempt to distract herself from the overwhelming urge to lick her tail, she decided to take stock of how much fresh kill was left from the fight. The chaos of dogs and cats racing and fighting around camp had resulted in prey being scattered and sometimes destroyed. She sniffed at a mouse that had been rolled around in the dirt and then stepped on by a dog’s paw. I wonder if anyone will eat that. It amused her to think of some cat pawing out a meal from the pile just to see a squashed and dirty mouse.
She picked up a few scattered carcasses and piled them up again, surveying her work with some satisfaction.

Sunstrike came up to her. "Thanks, Nightbird." She said in acknoweledgement to the work she did. She passed her and went into the thorn tunnel only to peek her head out again. "Prairepaw!" She called her apprentice. "We weren't finished with that lesson!"

Prairiepaw rolled her eyes. "Doesn't that battle count as a fighting lesson? Besides....i'm gravely injured." She gave her side a lick to show where a small shallow scratch had been dealt. "I think I might not live to see another day!" She sighed sarcastically and slumped dramatically to the ground.

She sighed. "Alright, you can have the rest of the day off. But don't get in the way of the warriors." She resigned, then disappeared through the tunnel to hunt and replace the missing prey

"Well now that you've told me not to I simply must" muttered Prairiepaw to herself, grinning. She ran up to Dustfur, who was licking a wound on her front leg. "HEEEEeeeyyyy Dustfur!" Prairiepaw sauntered over. "Looks like YOU've got a prETtttty bad wound there. Huh. I, luckily, only escaped with a scratch or two. Actually I wouldn't credit luck. It was all skill. My skill." She teased, twitching her whiskers in amusement to let her know it was all in fun.
Then she took a closer look at the wound, and recoiled slightly.
"Whoa! I didn't think it was THAT bad. Hey, thats a pretty nasty one." She sniffed it, a trace of concern in her eyes. "Is that before or after seeing the medicine cat? No offense to her, duh."

Dustfur's tail tip snapped back and forth in annoyance."Before. Obviously. Now beat it." She couldn't stand this apprentice.

Prairiepaw shrugged. "Okay, geez." She flattened herself to the ground in mock submission. "I apologize from the depths of my humble heart."

Dustfur glared at her. "I don't want an apology. I want you to leave."

Prairiepaw got to her paws. "Fiiiine."

She plodded off to find another warrior to bother.

Frosty stared up into the boughs of a young oak tree. He stretched out a paw and unsheathed his claws, feeling them fasten into the tree’s rough bark. Before he knew it, he had bunched up his back legs and sprang onto the tree. Making sure his back paws were firmly imbedded in the tree, he unhooked his front paws and clawed up. Satisfied with his grip, he suddenly rushed upwards, making it to the higher branches. Once there, he draped his slight form onto a branch three times as thick as himself and laid his head upon his paws. Frosty stared around at the forest. The sights, sounds, and smells were so much different from the city...
As he thought about this new turn in his tree, he gradually drifted off to sleep, completely unaware of the mighty clan who’s territory he had warily trespassed into.

Sunstrike caught a strange scent in the air while hunting and quickly made her way toward it, neck fur raised. She noted that its source was in the tree, so she waited at the base, knowing whoever was up there would have to come down eventually.
