She listened, trying hard to breathe deeply and not fall asleep. She finally heard a squeak, and she lifted her head. "Rainkit," she murmured as her eyes fell on her daughter.

'Lilyflight!' she thought as soon as she had gotten done squeaking. She turned around to see her for the first time. She didn't wait for Bramblestar to push her over, she crawled to her herself and thought 'I'm here!'

She licked her all over, pulling her closer with her tail.

"She's the one who talked to me most," Lilyflight explained in between licks. "She told me a lot, and before we learned how to talk she would jump whenever the name Rainkit was mentioned."

"This is all bizarre." He mewed. Then he looked at his kits, his eyes full of love and affection "But they are ours, and I'm going to love them, prophecy kits or not."

"And so am I." Now that Rainkit was dry, Lilyflight gently nudged her to her belly where she began to suckle. She lay her head back down, feeling dizzy and exhausted. But she couldn't take her eyes off her kits.
