Owlkit was surprised with her brother's strength but slipped out from under him from pure luck. She pulled herself up the tree slowly but surely until she reached a branch that hung over a trickling stream. Owlkit began to inch herself along the branch until she was nearly at the end and the branch was bending from her weight. Suddenly, a crow swooped over her. Owlkit's heart gave a lurch from the crow startling her but when she stepped back, her paw had nowhere to step on and she tumbled out of the tree.

Owlkit let out a gasp of pain as her little body fell to the river bank. Jarring pain shot down her leg and she had realized she had fallen on her leg wrong. She let out a feeble mew of pain. The river trickled over her and turned red as it passed her.

"Owlkit!" she gasped, feeling a worry she had never felt before. Running over, she picked her out of the river gently and set her down on the bank, licking her wound. "I'm getting you to Feathersky. Everyone else, stay where you are." She took Owlkit by the scruff and ran to the medicine den.

Sunpaw looked up from her nest sleepily "Hi Lilyflight." She mewed, not bothering to look up

Lilyflight set Owlkit down in front of her and held her close. "Hi Sunpaw," she said hurriedly. "Do you know where Feathersky is?"

Feathersky jumped when Lilyflight burst into her den. "What is it?" she mewed.

"Owlkit climbed a tree when I wasn't looking and fell!" she told her, tears coming to her eyes. "I wasn't watching her close enough!"
