"I'm not sure..." He wrinkled his muzzle in thought, then his eyes flashed in realization. "Erm... I.. I think I have to kill her..." He looked at his mother helplessly. In a soft voice, he mewed "I don't want to kill anyone though..."

“You don’t have worry about that right now,” she said firmly. “But when you do, I know you’ll have the courage to do the right thing, whatever it is.”

He crouched further into the nest and lowered his head with a soft whimper. "Why do I have to do it?" He unsheathed his claws and looked at them fearfully, knowing one day he wouldn't be able to recognize them because they would be covered in the blood of a cat he killed.
