So I am in the process of building a run for my chickens so they can be out while I am at work. How do yall keep it clean and from not getting muddy? The coop I have now my chickens can access the ground and its so muddy and gross from the way the weather has been and im trying to avoid that with the run im building. The new coop we have for them is raised off the ground.

I have my run covered with the plastic panels from lowes. I have about 4-6" of wood chips (undyed and uncoated) and it works great. No mud and the chickens love scratching for bugs.

I don't have to worry about muddiness where I am at. I do know that you can put plastic panels or tin on the top of it. For drainage you might want to put wood chips or sand.

Hope this helped!

Guess you don't have space to put the run on skids and move it around?
