I have one EE chick that isn't thriving as much as the others. All 7 of the others are much bigger than this one. Some of them seem to be almost three times its size. I have seen him/her eat and drink so I know it is not due to not being able to eat. I have had to separate it again from the others cause they basically run over & squash "him". He/she doesn't seem to be gaining much weight either. Is there something else I can feed in addition to the starter/grower to help it gain some weight and strength. I had added electrolyte and probiotic to the water at times. It had a prolapse about a week or so ago and we got that cleared up, but it is back to acting all weak and barely making it. I'm so afraid we may lose it.

Give it some infants vitamins/minerals (one without iron) in it's water to give it a boost and along with it's regular chick food, high protein food, like scrambled egg, tinned tuna and mealworms to help it gain weight. Good luck!

Easter egger, or your hatchery ameraucanas. I also have a chick that wasn't growing, and wasn't thriving, and after doing a ton of research, she seems to carry the dwarf gene, while it's not that common, maybe yours does too?

If I give it food like scrambled eggs and such, do I need to provide grit? They are on shavings at the moment and medicated chick starter.

Yes, sorry, I should've said so. If you can't find chick grit you can sprinkle some coarse sand over it's feed. That will help too.

ok. I thought so. Thank you. I was making sure.

Can PDZ be used as grit? I have a few chicks in a brooder with that.

I've no idea what that is, sorry. I think play it safe and use chick grit or sand rather.
