Hello BYC!
I have a new flock of baby chicks who are now 3 weeks old (Buff Orpington, Easter Egger, Plymouth Barred Rock, Blue Plymouth Barred Rock). I snagged a pick while they were napping. As you can see my Plymouth Barred Rock is significantly smaller than the other chicks. I took some weight measurements yesterday. Her sisters are coming in between 120-180grams and she’s only at 82grams. She’s eating, drinking, pooping acting totally normal. Her crop gets impacted very few days but I give her some coconut oil and a quick massage and it clears up.

Should I be concerned? Or perhaps she’s just a runt?

Is she possibly a bantam?
I her from a local hatchery here in Wake Forest NC. They didnt mention anything about their Plymoth B. Rocks being bantams :( I'm going to keep weighing her weekly. Hopefully she continues to gain weight.

I'm currently only giving the flock chick starter, no treats or grit.

Could be a runt, could be failure to thrive (though it sounds like she's at least eating well and behaving normally). If she's a runt she could stay small, or end up catching up, just taking longer to get to full size.
