That's a Black Ringneck Pheasant. It's never going to tame down.

THANKS for solving my mystery! I truly appreciate it. I knew something wasn't right, but have never had this kind of experience. The dogs sure knew! They leave all my other laying hens and bantams alone, but they were constantly running around the cage of these! I guess I will keep them caged till they are more mature and let them out...... I am curious what training they will need in order to survive in the wild.

You may find yourself building a flight cage.....

At least that is what I would end up doing.

Do you need a license to own a black ringneck pheasant in Ohio? We buy chicks at Rural King and if I got in this same situation could I keep it without a license/permit? Thx,
