How hard is it to breed out "rusty shoulders"? I have a cockerel and pullet from the same breeder. He molted out with rusty shoulders when he got his adult plumage. I'm assuming there is a high liklihood that the pullet also carries the same genes, right?
Well, Yesterday I got another splash Ameraucana roo with no rusty shoulders, but he is really odd looking compared to the first cockerel. He has very upright carriage and a large comb. He is smaller bodied and has darker legs, and a much smaller beard. Would breeding roo 2 to the pullet just make a bunch of odd looking chicks? Is rusty shoulders that bad? The second roo had his tail picked, so he looks funny in the back.
