Rye sprouts for feed. It is surprisingly easy to maintain.

I have rye, oat and sunflower seed sprouts and my chicken love it! I give it to them before bed. I see there is lots of discussion about it- I find it easy to maintain and it’s better for the summer than just grains.

Just curious if you have experience or no anything about sprouting non-grain seeds for the chickens (or yourself for that matter)?

I have also put pomegranate in there :)) just in case. My chickens would eat the flax mixed with other seeds I get from sprouts, I don't have any cash for actual chicken scratch feed, so I improvise - on electricity too, as you see

And with almost no hassle (depends on what the Sprouts cashier renders as edible, taxable or your eligibility status rights) you can buy the seeds from sprouts with EBT.

And the pomegranate I got from a wild street little bush -I only picked a quarter sized cute pomegranate this summer and it was drying all this time, used as decorative touch next to my poupory - I made a small hole in it the other day and the seeds came out dry and loose; I still use the shell as decoration and have a flaxseeds/ pomegranate mix in my clay pots :)

Oh, wow!! Is there anything special you did to sprout the flax seeds. I saw a post online that showed flax becomes a slippery, slimy mess when you try to sprout it. It looked disgusting so I had given up the idea until I saw your post. Also are you growing some of these sprouts to microgreen stage?
