sack not absorbed

i had a chick hatch about 14 hrs ago and the egg sack has not absorbed. it was the only chick like this. it has shrinked a little bit and the little chick is still living. is there anything i should do or just let nature take it course? Jan

I've never had one but this is what I would do. Separate the chick from the others so they won't peck the sack. Perhaps add some electrolytes to it's water and give the chick a couple drops per day of Poly-Vi-Sol (it's kids liquid vitamins). Sometimes they survive...sometimes not. thanks for advice. i already have it seperated but havnt given any water or food yet i will try that and see what happens. you cant help but feel helpless in a situation like that. Jan
