Sad day! Lost 7

Yes on the AC plug in units. Get one a bit bigger than you might think.

If you fence is setup right, it will wap the crap out of your chickens too, but will not do any serious harm. I think one of mine must have hit it the other day......she was near it, and the next thing I knew she was running round the yard like she had been stung by a bee....cackling and complaining and came running up to me like I was going to help. Wire and poly tape fences are almost as effective as the poultry netting fences and are easier to maintain, and are less expensive, meaning you can have a bigger protected yard area for the same money. I'm told by my neighbors on both sides that we......meaning me and they......have foxes. They see them all the time and I never have seen one ever. I think the reason I never see any.......and I'm the one with the chickens........is that fence. To a varmint like a fox, coon or coyote, no chicken is worth the risk of another dose of that fence.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I am looking at my options. We are beekeepers and actually do have electrical fencing complete with solar charger but where the heck that is.... that's a different matter. I hope my husband has it squarely away. Haven't talk to him about it yet. We've not had to use it with the bees as we haven't had a bear problem (yet). And the state gave beekeepers free fencing a few yrs back and we took advantage of the give away. I do think I will give that a whirl before I look at spending more $$ on poultry netting. The bear fencing is the poly tape type.

GOOD SUGGESTIONS! I always know where to go for chicken help.... Backyard Chickens Forums!!
