Hello I'm new,
I need some help. I had two ducks from when they were babies, but sadly my dog ate the male duck. We gave the dog away so that this would never happen again, but now two days have passed and my female duck has been sad. I know it's because she lost a loved one but she hasn't been eating right and it's getting close to winter and she expected to fly away. Everyday shes been flying away but then coming back like she's waiting for him. Even if shes not supposed to go, How do I make Her Happy again?

Is she a mallard?
Ducks are herd animals and should not live by themselves

I'm really sorry for you loss :(

Try to get her a companion as soon as possible- ducks are very sociable animals and will quickly become depressed if kept alone. For now try giving her a non-breakable mirror which will keep her distracted.

Thank you,

do I get another baby duck or a grown up duck about her age?
