Lost one of my muscovy girls to what i think was a fox, leaving me with a hen and drake. She seems very upset and not her self as those two did everything together. Is it worth getting another female just for her and am i okay with just adding one or do i need to get two? I have sorted an electric fenced area for them to stay in while im at work and my dog stays down during the day now to keep an eye on things, as she was taken while i was gone. Picture of elton and pumpkin the remaining two đź’”

My opinion is talking with duck lady up the road, an alpaca owner, and with our cats. Two close pets may do well together but when tragedy strikes one of 'em, the survivor's grief is deep and lasting. Your hen may not consider your drake a soul mate. Three hens, (at least 2) I believe, would lessen the effects of possible or probable loses.

I agree with getting 2 females. it will be easier on them when breeding, gives the drake more ways to spread around the love.
Very sorry for your loss.
