I went to a sell by my house tonight. My mother was there. There were two young male alpacas there. I have always wanted one, but never thought I could afford one. When they came in the ring, my mother asked me if I wanted it that she would buy it for me if I did. I couldn't believe it. Of course I said yes. Now, I have a beautiful alpaca in one of my horse stalls for the night. I have the best mother. My son hasn't got to see him yet. I can't wait. I know he will love him. My husband can't see why I wanted another animal. I don't think he will ever understand. I will put him with the goats. Now, I want more.

I am trying to learn as much as I can. I would love any advise you all can give me.

So what are you going to do w/this animal? They are pretty but seem worthless.

I am going to spin his wool and make things with it. I have always wanted them for their wool. It is so soft. Plus, he will guard my goats. And most important he will be a loving member of my family. They are very loving animals.

Congratulations! I LOVE alpacas!

And they're not useless! They will protect other livestock, you can harvest their wool, and the babies bring a mighty fine price!

Good luck with him!

They had an alpaca show here a couple of months ago and me, my friends and my mom all wanted one--but they were a pretty penny!

Congrats!

THank you. I will try to get pictures of him tomorrow. We got him for a really good price. The owner said he shouldn't have sold him for that. Now, I want to find him a girl. My little sister really wants him. The guy told us that he has a female that is about to have a baby any day. That he will sell. I think my mother may get her for my sister.

you sure do have a great mom. I too, am looking into alpaca, very pricey but so worth it.
congrats
