IF someone had Keep an eye on Manson he wouldnt have got away with all he did. SO....

Manson had a whole group of followers "keeping an eye" on him - did not stop him. Yikes

They were not keeping an eye on him, they were participating in the evil doing with him, sorta like putting a fox in charge of keeping the coons out of the henhouse.(did you like the way I steered this thread back to the subject of chickens)

So sorry about your DD's chicken

And even if "dogs are dogs, and acting on instinct, not evil" and "all dogs can be trained", *NOT* all dogs are a good/appropriate match for *ALL* homes!! And some of them just have too much "prey drive" to work well/happily with free ranging chickens. (!) Sometimes re-homing really *IS* the best option. (Professional Animal Trainer for 15+ yrs, here!!).

And you are at the right website for chicken-related sympathy... Again, sorry about your daughter's chookie!!

So sorry for your DD's loss. Especially when it comes at the hands (or maybe jaws is a better term? ) of a "family" member. These kinds of life lessons are so hard to take at such a tender age.

And yes, you've certainly come to the best place for chicken loss sympathy/empathy. We all certainly understand the pain of losing a beloved bird.

Hope your DD finds another bird to be her favorite soon. Why wait till next spring? Check CraigsList. There are always chickens looking for good homes on there.
