So we got 16 baby chicks back in February. We are new to this but we were learning a lot as we went. On Wednesday night we had an animal get into our coop and killed all but 2 chickens. One was completely fine, the other was injured. Looks like she maybe got scalped. And possibly other bite injuries to her head by her eye. We brought her inside and have been tending to her wounds. She seemed ok at first, was drinking well and eating a little. Everyday she has ate less and less and now today she ate nothing and drank very little. She just stands in the same spot all day. Is she just depressed from the trauma and being all alone now? Is there maybe an infection? I don’t know what to do for her. :(
I’ve been feeding her all their favorite things, pasta, bread, rice, fruit, ground beef....nothing. She won’t eat at all. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation and had thoughts. Poor baby :(

See if your local TSC or similar store has any ‘leftover chicks’ those can give your babies more company .I would treat the head wounds by rinsing and then apply bacitracin. I don’t know how to make a chicken eat and would love to know how

Is the chick near the other chicken for company? You could keep them separated by a wire dog crate where they could see each other. Vetericyn wound spray is good to use, or saline and a bit of plain Neosporin ointment teice a day for the scalp wounds. Do you have pictures? It is possible that she had some brain injury or internal injuries. Have you fixed your coop where no predators can get in? 1/2 inch hardward cloth is best for keeping out predators. What type of setup do you have? Sorry for your losses, but there are many predators that will attack chickens.
