Pheobe Prince was a few towns away from me. This is a sad story my cousin was also in the South Hadley school system and had to go to a differant school because of bullies. From what I understand this town has a history of bullies. I hope they make these kids pay. People say dont tell because it makes you a tattle tale well the cold hard truth is kids need to tell . Pheobe isnt the first kid in our area that has killed themselfs over being bullied. Not that long ago a 12 year old from Springfield also killed himself over being bullied. The staff at South Hadley school had seen the bullying and did NOTHING . Someone needs to make these kids an example that bullying isnt tolerated. The so called mean girls in Pheobe case put there status on facebook "Acomblished" after Pheobe killed herself they have NO remorse what so ever . Its sadens me to think that this could be my child or yours because of bullies.

feel bad for her family... I was bullied so much at school I was afraid to go to the bathroom, I had to leave during class inorder to go if I really had to. It reduced my chances of being "caught" by my bullies. I had thought more about running away then killing myself though. It also caused me to have problems at home because I was stalling to go to school and of course mom would yell at me alot, which made home life stink too. The best part is that they've amounted to nothing today, and I feel better knowing I'm more sucessful (and look better) than they do!

I do have a serious issue with charging boys with rape charges... IMHO, it's not rape if they're both willing. They're stuck on the rape list for the rest of their lives and I think thats wrong. Especially when girls lie about their age etc.... Charge them with something akin to rape if you want, make up something new, but that is NOT rape IMO.

What a heartbreaking situation. A few years ago, we went through a similar situation with our son. Fortunately we caught it before it escalated to suicide. The situation has changed his life forever though. That poor girl, I feel so sad that she was pushed that far, and felt she had no other choice.

I am so saddened by this. Suicide is never the answer, it is horrible that these young people have felt there was no other alternative. My heart goes out to those of you who have experienced such tragic losses.

grandpa married grandma... Grandma was 14 grandpa was 20. How things were done up to 50 even 60 years ago.

I don't get why people say don't tell cause it makes you a tattle tale/snitch,I only hear it from so called religious people. It confuses me don't lie,but lie if people will think your a tattle tale/snitch.....It's like a double standered that has become the norm....
These poor kids live in total fear and misery everyday, the complete hopplessness they feel everyday breaks my heart.
Wonderfull bright smart kids are treated like outcast because they are diffrent, when we start embracing our diffrences the world will be a better place.
You ever notice how its all great in the movies for the undedog and people root for the underdog in movies but IRL treat em like outcast......
I think alot of it is up bringing, kids follow by example...when bulling happens alot of kids watch bullies in action feeling very very uncommfortable but dont step up and say stop that its wrong....We have to teach our kids to speak up and say don't do that its wrong, alot of bullies get away with it cause kids don't know how to say we don't approve of your behavior.
So if everyone when we see something thats just wrong and speaks up then we teach our kids to speakup and stop bulling cause it happens everywhere in life not only in school but on the bus, texts, online, work and just in everyday life.

i never advocate my kids taking a violent reaction but after a months of bullying my daughter she finally had enough and tossed another girl across the lunch table lengthwise. I got the call that she was in a fight and was getting suspended. When I got to the school I asked the VP who she was in a fight with. Privacy issues prevent us from disclosing a minors blah blah blah. I supplied the name and they gave me a surprised yes thats her. Told them to check with my 6-8 complaints to transportation and the bus driver, also check with her 2 and 4th hour freshman teachers... and I spoke with her about this in the past month as well....

So instead of 10 days they gave her 1 1/2 days suspension. And I could have that knocked off as well. I actually asked the principal to suspend her so I could teach my daughter a lesson. Basically there is always a way out without violence when it comes to school. If you paint yourself into a corner and that is the only way they can see, they need to understand how hard the parents are going to come down on them and what the consequences are. Now a days the two girls (both the bullying one and my daughter) are now friends. Go figure? But until my daughter stood up for herself, this younger smaller kid wouldn't let up.
