Sadly, I found my Guinea hen's nest at midnight **Found her**

So will you plan to return her eggs to her in a safe location or just leave them with the foster mom? Just curious. I'm so glad she is safe!!

No, since she was scared off the nest, I plan on incubating the eggs.
I can't leave them with foster Mom, she is hatching chicks right now & will soon leave her nest. I just had to put them with her until incubator was turned on & regulated.
I knew I should have kept it going!!!!

I plan on taking the eggs from the other nest DH found too. She made her nest in the weeds in the middle of one of the horse traps that we plan on mowing this week.

I'm just so happy I didn't loose the hens.

A horse trap is just a pen. Ha Ha!!

You have to use either a winch or an electric garage door opener to open the door on a "horse trap".

Anyway, I had a heck of a time getting the eggs from that hen today. She wouldn't even budge when the tractor & brush hog came right up to her nest. We finally got her off the nest & DH had to keep her off me while I gathered the eggs. She had no sense of humor today!!!
She went back & looked at her nest & then went & joined the rooster. She just went back to her everyday life.

We have never had any luck with a Guinea hatching her own eggs while free ranging. The keets always seem to die. I read that even following Mom around with dew on the grass might kill them. They have to kept dry for 2 weeks, then after that they are very hardy. Guess there must be some truth to that, since we haven't gotten any raised unless they were penned with shelter from rain.
